Love Divine
Your Wedding at All Saints Kenley
A wedding is one of life’s great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting, and joy. St. John tells us how Jesus shared in such an occasion at Cana, and gave there a sign of new beginnings as he turned water into wine. A church wedding brings out the full flavour of the meaning of the word ‘love’.
How to get started.
The first thing to do is to come along to All Saints Church one Sunday around 10am and have a look round, then contact one of the clergy or the Parish Office Tel; 020 8660 3251 or email office@stbarnabaspurley.org,uk
Your wedding will
probably be conducted by-
Revd. Linda
Williams (Hon Asst Curate) 020-8660-9240
Revd. David Hadley (Hon Asst Curate) 020-8763-6206
Marriage is either by
Banns, your intention to be married being read out over 3 weeks in the church/es of your place/s of residence
Common License, dispensing with the need for banns, but still requiring one of you to be resident in Kenley or a member of our church
Special License, when there are special links with All Saints, despite the fact that you don’t live in the parish or worship at the church at the moment.
Marriage Measure 2008, when you have a ‘qualifying connection’, eg. a parent used to live or worship here years ago for 6 months or more.

Spend some time thinking about music. Our organist Eric Beven will help you (020-8657-7983) choose hymns if you want them, and the music for the bridal procession and out of church at the end. Buy a wedding CD to help you. Think also about Bible readings, poems etc. and whether you’d like someone from your family to take part by reading at the ceremony. Please contact Lynn Williams (020-8660-9473) so she can help you in your choice of floral decorations.

A wedding prayer
Now you will feel no rain,
.
• Fun
• Short!
• Non-threatening!
• Very helpful!
for each of you will be
shelter for the other;
now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be
warmth to the other;
now you are two, but there is
one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place to enter into the days
of your togetherness;
and may your lives be good, be happy, and be long upon this earth.
